Run, Draw Series

2017-Present

Knowledge stemming from the body rather than the mind has always been looked down on in the Western tradition in favor of a rational and detached intellect. But I've found that my body seems to know things that my brain does not. When I trail run--through woods, over rocks and roots and hills, my feet can find their place on the trail if I just let go. What other knowledge does my body hold that I have been denying myself?

In this series, I stop during or after my long distance runs to create drawings. The subject depends on setting, whether I am trail running (typically accompanied by my two dogs, who often become my subjects) or running on a treadmill at the gym.
