A body of work that explores my relationship with my 12 year old border collie Panic.
My work is not about the metaphoric idea of the dog as a loyal and subordinate companion or as a sentimental but relatively passive object. I'm interested in my relationship with one particular dog. Through what means and to what extent can I truly know him?
Inherent in that question is my own role as a caregiver. I have an enormous responsibility to look after another living thing--another species no less--to the best of my ability. This responsibility can lend itself to a relationship of dominion, but in my maternal role I strive not to wield power and control over him.
